I think it's a good idea... I'm sure that 98% of UCP'ers won't buy in, but that's not the point. The extra support is there for those who want it to have access to - not to exclude others.

I believe that funding mosly goes toward hosting/administration and content reporting (flights to car shows, etc). I'm not entirely sure though - Moderating is a volunteer job

It seems good to have more features (even though I already had 500 PM limits and no pop-ups because of using Mozilla ), but I'm not really sure about a Premium forum. It's not like there's anything that we could discuss there that we couldn't anywhere else... maybe the point is just making other users curious so that they'd sign up too . And in that case, maybe we will have some things to discuss

i hope everyone trusts us that the funding definitely isn't there to make anyone rich. i know for a fact that Wouter is continuously buying new servers (to keep the speed up), new camera equipment (to keep the quality top-knotch), and therapy sessions to keep his head straight about it all.

all of that is necessary to keep this plethora of automotive information growing.

he also assists in my travel costs to the shows i attend in North America. that may sound like a great deal for me, and the only reason that it is, is becasue i love doing it so much. i sure as hell couldn't make a living off of it yet though. if i charged for a hourly wage + travel + accomodations + expenses the site would be broke quick. we're both doing this for the love of it. i have a full-time job to take care of my necessities. this is all bonus.

all the additional funds that have been acquired over the last couple years as the site has grown has allowed us to travel a bit farther, and more often, with better equipment.

that reminds me, i need to make another therapy appointment myself. i keep seeing chrome wheels spinning around my head.

UCP is my therapy, I haven't had the luxury of a true enthusiasts car for a few years now - married life, children and a work-related injury that left me out of work for better than a year and a half saw to that.

The time will come around for me again, but until then I can talk openly with great people who share the same passion, fantasize about cars that never make it to this side of the world, and in some cases re-live my early enthusiast days through members who are going through it the first time.

All of this is definitely worth $30 a year, especially when I see how the site has grown in the past year that I've been a member .... even more so when I consider how much time I spend on the site.

Ok, apparently the whole problem is because I own a debit card instead of a credit card. I'm gonna have to wait a couple of days 'till I get the thing veryfied (Don't ask me why)

Wouter, you might be confusing the 4 digits that I mentioned with the 3 digits that are in the back of the cards which is needed for registration also... (Just in case) Cause the 4# that they ask me for I can only retrieve them in a couple of days.

My dad has the whole pay pal thing and never had any problem with it (Credit card) So he doesn't really know what my problem might be.

Well, I guess I'll support as soon as I get things straight.

    Thank you all for helping.

Check out this E-mail I just got.

This is a reminder that we need you to enter your Expanded Use Number.

Your unique Expanded Use Number was sent to your credit card ending in XXXX
    on Oct. 13, 2004.

Until you enter your Expanded Use Number, you may be limited in the amount
of money you are able to send. To find out how much you can send before
    entering your Expanded Use Number:

    1. Log in to your PayPal account
    2. Click the View Limits link next to the yellow Balance box (if there is
not a View Limits link, your account has no Sending Limit)
    3. Your sending limit will appear beneath the 'Sending Limit' heading

How to enter your Expanded Use Number

PayPal has charged a $1.95 USD Expanded Use Fee to your credit card. You
can obtain and enter your Expanded Use Number by following the steps below:

    1. In the item description section of your next credit card statement, your
4-digit Expanded Number will be printed next to the $1.95 USD PayPal
Expanded Use Fee (example, PayPal 1234*(EXPUSE)). Check your next statement
to find your unique Expanded Use Number.
    2. Click the link below and type in your unique Expanded Use Number:

If you access your credit card statement online, it may take up to 4
business days for your Expanded Use Number to appear. If you don't have
online access to your credit card statement, please wait for your printed
statement to arrive in the mail.*

After you have entered your Expanded Use Number, your enrollment will be
    complete.

    Thank you for using PayPal!
    The PayPal Team

    * PayPal strongly discourages users from calling their credit card
companies in order to obtain their PayPal Expanded Use Number before
receiving their monthly statements in the mail. If PayPal receives a
complaint from Visa, MasterCard, or your card issuer regarding your
account, your PayPal account may be permanently closed.

An alternative to a credit card / paypal payment would be with a US Dollar International Money Order.

i dont have a credit card and have no intention of getting one for as long as i can avoid it.

It's a token of our appreciation for their work.
