    First Car

I finally got my first car, it's a 2008 Saturn Astra 3-Door that wasn't sold for a year with only 46km so almost 10K off. I absolutely love it, its a hoot to drive and the suspension feels much nicer than most other things I have driven. Black Saffire paint, with the 18 inch rims which although they make the ride a bit crash, are SO sexy. The only options it doesn't have are leather and a sunroof which really aren't all that important. I am very happy with heated seats.

Since the purchase two weeks ago I have gone and had the windows tinted to 35% in the front and 15% in the back...looks yummy. I have started forming a list of things I want to do to it and now just need the resources to carry them out!

So that's about the second time in weeks a GM car has been ruined by parents...

I'm thinking of Astra as one of the variants of a first car too. Congratulations on your purchase.

Nice ride for a first car! The stance looks pretty good so I can't say lower it.

Very cool- I've had my license for almost 1 and a half years now nearly, and still no car. Then again, I don't drive very much, but that's not the point right?

The thing is, will parts become an issue once Saturn goes away?

    Anyway, enjoy your car!

Nice car! - I used to have a 5-door version but the engine / spec wasn't as good as yours. Miles better than a Slobalt!

They only sell 1.8-litre petrols in the 'States, don't they?

    Nice car. Always liked it!

What about Saturn? Aren't GM suppose to pull the plug?

Parts availability has already become an issue with car companies. The lack of staff, the dealership network disappearing, and lack of production are affecting the parts network hard.

The question is whether the parts that are now used in Saturn models will be used on other GM non-Saturn products.

For example Elise K-series owners could source engine-transmission parts from Rover dealerships (before Rover shut down)

If I have to make a guess, the 1,8l I4 will not be used in many cars
