    Thanks to my_porsche for that last story, I haven't laughed that hard at someone else's expense for a long time. :P

    It's up to you guys to decide this one. Who is more stupid: The kid who put sand directly into his engine or this guy?

    This technology already exists and is used in almost every modern diesel. It however uses a different name, EGR. The reason why it is used, is quite different though..

    Diesel engines don't rely on the air in the cylinder chamber exploding via a spark - they rely on compression alone.

    Rerouting hot exhaust into a chamber that relies on O2 to fire is just made of fail.

    EDIT: it's also used to dull down the explosion - surely not something you'd want if it was a "performance enhancement" you were after.
