    Car noise

1998 Pontiac Sexfire. Similar to a sunfire but different. Today there was sound coming from the right front of the car, not sure where from exactly. It sounded like there was something knocking around in a steel pipe or something, like hitting the walls. It only made the noise when i let off the gas pedal, under braking it was fine, under acceleration it was fine, pushing the clutch in didnt affect anything. So.....What could be the problem?

Could be the CV joint. Take it to a garage to find out.

Does the steering seem more vague than it should be? When I got my old mini, the steering would shift mid corner, and there was a clonk from the front left when lifting off. Turns out the suspension bushing was basically completely gone, so the wheel was incredibly loose. You could rock it front-back when the car was stationary. Shoulda seen the look of the guys in Tyrepower when I took it in for new tyres and they saw it shift under braking...

my old accord's CV boots came off and allowed the CVs to rattle, and it sounded much like what you were describing... not a real cheap fix.

Maybe the thingy that connects the accelarator to the engine could have snapped a little bit from all that driving. How much miles has it done? That could help?
