Dubai, United Arab Emirates – xx July 2005 – The 2006 model of the legendary Chevrolet Caprice builds on its solid heritage of generosity and power and brings new levels of convenience to drivers and passengers across the Middle East.
“Generosity has always been at the heart of Caprice, which is why it has developed such a strong affinity with the people of the Middle East,” said Chris Probert, regional marketing manager - Chevrolet Large Cars. “The 2006 Caprice offers superlative levels of comfort, a choice of V6 and V8 engines, contemporary styling, and an unparalleled amount leg room in the rear.”
The 2006 Caprice’s sharp modern lines remain in harmony with its classic saloon shape. The angular headlamps and the striking chrome grilles give a distinguished appearance to the front, whilst the rear styling looks stylish and sophisticated. Caprice Royale receives a state-of-the art set of LED brake-lamps which not only look good, they illuminate quicker, and last much longer than conventional bulbs.
Inside, the driver feels at one with the car, with the centrally mounted control panel angled towards the driver and the remote stereo controls mounted on the steering wheel ensuring excellent ergonomics. Electrically adjustable front seats, with flexible lumbar support and optional Electronic Climate Control add unmatched comfort while optional leather seats and trim adds another touch of class to the Caprice experience.
The 3.6L Alloytec V6 engine (optional on LS and LTZ models) brings Middle East drivers fuel economy and refinement at an affordable price. The technically advanced aluminium alloy block and cylinder heads in the Alloytec V6 create a lighter engine and, in turn, an excellent balance between fuel economy and performance. Outstanding launch feel from standing starts is delivered with the aid of 230 horsepower (net), and it gives excellent mid-rev range responsiveness for effortless overtaking.
For those who require the additional power of a V8, the legendary 5.7 Litre Generation III package provides a momentous 330hp (net) at 5600rpm. Meanwhile, the 4-speed electronic automatic transmission includes an economy program to ensure optimum fuel consumption and also a power shift program to facilitate quick downshifting when required.
Parking has never been simpler with the intelligent Rear Park Assist technology as standard on LTZ, SS and Royale models. Rear Park Assist uses sensors in the rear fascia to measure the distance and guide the driver, via audio signals, into and out of tight parking spots with ease.
Caprice’s generosity also extends to comprehensive safety systems in the areas of crash avoidance, and occupant protection. On the crash avoidance side, the new Brake Assist feature is an advanced system that reduces stopping distances by anticipating panic braking situations and helps to apply additional brake pressure. The new Electronic Brakeforce Distribution system helps regulate the force between the front and rear brakes to provide improved braking balance. ABS Brakes and Traction Control are also available throughout the range. On Caprice Royale, an advanced tire pressure monitoring system displays the pressure of each tire, and alerts the driver if additional inflation is required.
Meanwhile for occupant protection, Caprice features an energy absorbing front structure, rigid side structure incorporating reinforced B-Pillars and side door intrusion beams, anti-submarining ramps in front seats, passenger Safety Cell, and driver’s airbag, with the option of front passenger airbag, and side impact airbags located in the seats.
Caprice’s advanced suspension tuning helps limit body roll during cornering and rapid lane changes on highways to increase stability and road-holding while steering improvements give a more sensitive and direct feel. Control-link independent rear suspension ensures maximum traction on rear wheels, which makes for confident cornering and handling.
Whilst Caprice has more than four decades of tradition in the Middle East, the continuous improvements made with every model year ensures that it further endears itself to Middle East customers.
