Got 33.323mpg this tank (~7.05l/100km). Went to Dallas and back with about 50 miles of in-town driving and some stop-and-go in the Metroplex, cycled a/c on and off the whole way. Cruised at 60-65mph. Had a 200lb passenger and about 60lbs of luggage on the way home, too.

Probably means that cruising on the freeway with no a/c it gets about 35mpg (6.75l/100km)...not bad for a car that wasn't rated anywhere near that high!

Well...just calculated my MPG with about 15% highway and 85% city:

    11.19 ****ING miles per gallon.

Now I realize I drive a truck with a big V8, but I think it's rated at 15/19, and the way I drive, I would be scared to see how you drive to get 15/19...

It's all in how you drive. Ease up on the throttle a bit and you should see your numbers start to improve. I had a '92 Bronco that went from 8 to 13+mpg (in town, I might add) just by changing my driving style. My Dad's F150 SCrew 4.6 averaged 15 in town with an average driving style. I wouldn't be too worried.

On-board computer records Avg. MPG. Last 3,500 miles got me 18.9 MPG or 12.4 L/100km.

The MPG meter shows high 20s and even low 30s when cruising on the highway. The best I netted on a road trip was about 24 MPG (9.8 L/100km), 90% freeway...

For a 2-litre car that's just amazing. Of course doing 60mph explains it. I usually do 80-90mph in the motorway and this shows...

There's others getting better than I. One at a Focus board at which I post is claiming 37mpg or 6.35l/100km from his SVT (or ST170 over there), though I can't say just how truthful he is. From what I've heard, 34mpg is just on the high end of average for the SVT's. A lot of guys using the new Duratec 2.0l (which is the Mazda 2.3l with a shorter stroke) are routinely getting even better than that, returning 37-38mpg, one guy even claiming he got 40mpg (5.9l/100km) on the highway.

I think I have a true 35mpg in this car somewhere though.

I get higher mileage with a 2.2 litre car, but you know

Shhhhh, Albert doesn't like the 'd' word!!

Update- managed 54 miles for 5 litres of fuel. Nearly 87km on 5 litres of fuel, which makes it... 49mpg/5.74l/100km/41 US mpg

I also just calculated my overall average since I bought the car...comes out to 26.812mpg or 8.77l/100km, apx. 25% freeway/motorway driving, the rest split between city and country roads on rolling hills...

Edit: yes, I'm postwhoring in this one...

Thats what I meant by "id be scared to see how they drive" I use like 5-10% throttle pressure and take maybe 5-10 seconds to accelerate to 30, i do drive with the windows down and subwoofers using a bunch of power though, would that cause the alternator to use up gas?

Just got 28.79mpg (8.17l/100 km), all on our rolling hills and 50% in-town driving, 50% country road, no freeway use. That includes a couple of hard WOT passes, too...driving carefully and boosting my tire pressures are really helping out it looks like.

Taking a nearly 2000mi round-trip ride to Illinois and back next week, we'll see what kind of numbers I get. I'm hoping for 35 mpg (~6.75l/100 km) or better...

I think I'm the only person who tries to get bad mileage... It's like a contest to see how badly I can beat this ish out of a 2.0L. I can't seem to do any worse than about 24.5mpg, and that's with a bad cat, bad O2 sensor, dirty air filter, old plugs, wires, cap, rotor, an exhaust leak, and a random misfire.

Damn. My 2.0l will get 15 if you push it much, it's easy to only return 21 if you're not paying attention to your driving.

I've got two cars at the moment.

1998 Camaro Z28 6 speed 5.7L V8 (Only Mod is Cat Back exhaust)

18 mpg City / 27 mpg Highway - I probably get around 20-22 if I'm doing 80+mph on the interstate.

1998 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L DOHC V8- Stock

19 mpg City / 26 mpg Highway - Work and back is an even 19mpg. Highway speeds at 60-65 26 mpg is easy. I can cruise up to 90mph and still get an even 20mpg with no problem.

    Both Cars get 93 Octane.
