Nissan GTR has a crappy top speed, lol

Ok maybe this is completely wrong, but this video just said something amazing about the new Nissan GTR

Apparently in Japan the top speed is limited to 111mph and 156 in America

but when you go onto a track, a special gps satelite raising the limit

If that is true...what a complete joke! Who in America is going to want a super fast car that taps out way before the fun begins

I'm hoping their info is way off...I thought Road and track and others said it was near 200mph

It does matter to alot of people. Especially when your paying so much for the car. 156 isnt going to settle well with alot of people....seeing as the gt mustang tops out at 155 stock

Im sure aftermarket will fix it right away, but still....that is annoying

Werty, there is no reason, at all, that having a car that can only max out at 156, on the street (you yourself stated they could o higher on a track) would bother anyone, unless they are a complete fool.

Mercedes, Audi and BMW say that their limiters are at 155.

People who really do push their cars sometimes make it to 160 something before it really kicks in.

    Some limiter.

    Yawn...

Most high-end cars for sale today are limited to 250km/h aka 155.3mph. The GTR is no different.

how long does the mustang take to get to it's top speed...as opposed to how quick the GTR gets to it's limiter?
it's no big deal, how many tracks have a straight long enough anyway..
but yeah, i'd take the ZR-1 anyway...but it costs a lot more.

Why would Americans give a rat's ass? 99% of them won't even do 130Mph in the cars. These cars are status icons in America.

And the GPS only works for Japan.

What happens if you give the car a "virus" in the GPS system and make it think that every road in America is a track in Japan?

Then the limiter would be off, right?

    Ok... but you're wrong.

Aaaaanywhoooo, it really doesn't matter in any practical way that a car, supercar or not, is limited to 2.5 times the common speed limit in the US. What does matter, to me at least, is that there are limiters at all. I don't want any car I buy to have artifical limits imposed on what it, or I can do. I obey speed laws because I choose to, the consequences, both legal, and physical, of exceeding those limits on a regular basis, or to a large degree are, I think too high. I don't think it's a good idea for legal authorities to have the level of control that either of these limiters imply, especially the Japanese version. The fact that the car is tracking its own location would make it all too easy for legal authorities to track you, or for the automaker to go one step further and decide to limit the absolute speed the car can reach at any geographical point.

    That's my two-cents worth.

LOL. Right now though, Nissan has done a pretty good job keeping out the "hackers". It's funny how Nissan claims their car has a hard time being "hacked" yet they actually give 3-4 cars to different tuners.

I'm not saying 156 is slow, I'm saying the car was meant to compete with the Z06 and 911 Turbo

And I'm sure it does very well against them

but here in America, where highway races are everywhere....156 is too slow...and 111 is ridiculous...I feel sorry for the Japanese gtr fan boys over there

if they are going to limit a top speed to be safe then why even let it go above 75mph...that is after all the fastest LEGAL speed in America

I just think they should have let it be 200. Not that I would do that on a public street or that it is safe, but because it would then be a fair competition for the z06 and Turbo.

Whatever, dont turn this into an arguement guys.
