    Im on struggle street guys

The cheapest quote ive found for the machining and headwork I need done is going to use all my budget with nothing left for parts...

I think I will need to work an extra weekend to make some more cash to spend on this.

the other problem is finding a good workshop with a good price. So far quotes have varied by $250 for the same work... wtf?

I would try a shop out and see if they stick to their quote with a small part of the job. If they do and you like their work, go back with the rest of the stuff.

Just had the awesomest chat to a guy named Mark.

Mark builds CUSTOM heads for peoples high end rally/race cars. like $4k a head so he laughed at me when i whinged at $260 for a head rebuild. But he did give me GREAT advice and tips about things i can avoid doing, do myself or do easier and put me on to some good leads. The money I save from not getting some of the work done i thought i would is enough to get the cam reground and new lash pads which will be wicked.

Also turns out ive been given bad advice about which engine to go with. i should have gotten an L20B... which is annoying as I originally wanted an L20 but was told an L18 would be better as it revs more... but, whatever, im stuck here now.

Also spoke to Datsport, theyre chasing parts for as it is quite a decent list of stuff i sent them. So maybe im not as badly in need of extra work as i thought i was.

well it's not like the current engine will last forever chances are by the time you can get an L20 you'll be more confident/skilled etc etc so you can do more with it!

won't that put you in the 3L+ class? or are you not worrying about the categories, just going for sprints?

What kind of honing machine did you get?
I'd save up for the machine work, it might end up saving you money in the end.
