    Modyfying cars

Everytime you modify a car, do you always loose money? Can you actually gain money by modding your car. Lets say you put 2k on a old car. Make it look nice, do some engine mods, and overall you put about 10k on the car. Can you sell it for more, or will the price still be around, or less, the amount you bought the car for.

Usually end up loosing money. Unless dealing with a total spot on restoration.

The kinds of modifications you're talking about can be considered minor. If you want to make money, you'd have to do an "Overhaulin'" level job.

If you stumble upon a really rare old care and do a great job on it depending on the market at the time you could make 100's of thousands (ala Barret Jackson etc)

Restoration/new paint/etc on a classic car will often net more money than is spent.

Performance and asthetic modifications hardly ever even come close to getting a return on investment, let alone a profit. Most "tuner" cars you see on the street represent anywhere from $500 to $10,000+ in irrecoverable funds.

if you sink 2k into a new car, you're kissing that money goodbye. You will never be able make money off a new car unless its something with a really long waiting list or only a limited build. If you wanna mod a new car and are worried about getting money back, don't do it or get parts that you can take off when you go to sell

most modding is done to the car is to do with personal preference, so normally they are worth less

whatever you restore try to restore the engine. Peoples these days don't really like the "engine swap" thing. They go for the original(got off Barret Jackson)

    Nope, or not for me...

I bought my Acura for $28,000. After modding it, I managed to sell it to a neighbor for about $45,000.

I only made about a $10,000 profit which went to my VR-4.
