Could they not leave well enough alone?
Or make the cars faster?
Or destroy all diesels?

Buying a car and not driving it is like buying a meal and not eating it.

Apologies for the final suggestion- I can't say I like the unfair advantages the diesels have had over the past couple of years.

The LMPD category or something would save the situation, I believe. Though it would entail the leak of entrants in today's categories.

If they are going to make cars slower, then couldn't they make the mulsanne straight straighter? Make the track as it used to be- and don't use a safety argument against me- I'm sure most accidents happen into or around corners (say chicanes), and I'm led to believe tyre technology has come a long way since 1990, so I doubt blowouts will be that common.

Does anyone have any idea how much power the top LMP1s would make without restrictors?
I would think between 800 and 1000 bhp. On full boost I imagine the turbocharged engined would produce in excess of that.

Does any one else favor the new rules? I think the unified GT class is a no brainer, but I really like the idea of more similar specs between the LMP classes too. I like that a private team could be more competitive with the bigboys while still giving a slight advantage for spending big bucks to develop a superior purpose built engine. My only qualm is the aerodynamic restrictions. Doesn't less down force and a flat bottom increase the likelihood of air born LMPs? I do admit I have no knowledge of aerodynamics.
