Yes, one of "those" car threads.

Rundown - My current car is for sale. I need replacement.

EDIT: I'm sorry for creating another I-want-a-car-help-me-only-so-i-can-disregard-your-advice thread.

RWD is a must (2 exceptions - More on this later)
Manual is definately preferred, however for a cruiser I'd settle for Auto.
Either be turbo/fast or cool enough to enjoy the ride and not mind.
Reliability is fairly high on the list of prioritys.
    Funky/rare/epic factor is a desireable.

Basically in my price range (sub 5000 AUD)
I have searched carsales exhaustively and come up with this shortlist.(obviously the car would have to pass a basic mech test before I buy it)

1988 TOYOTA SUPRA TURBO 64MA71 Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au
AU delivered supra. Fast and slide worthy..

1988 TOYOTA SUPRA TURBO MA70 Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au
turbo jap import.. Fast and slide worthy..

1977 CHRYSLER LANCER GL LB Private Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au
Abit of a fixerupper but local and quirky

1978 FORD ESCORT SUNDOWNER Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au
With some extractors and new paint + nice wheels and RS2000 nosecone

1983 TOYOTA COROLLA CS KE70 Private Cars For Sale in SA - carsales.com.au
With commodore engine and welded diff

    1985 Nissan Gazzelle
1985 NISSAN GAZELLE Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au
    with CA18DET (1.8ltr turbo)

1980 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2000 Private Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au
1980 Alfa GTV 2000 (just up the road from me)

1979 DATSUN STANZA GX Private Cars For Sale in SA - carsales.com.au
Stanza SSS, bluebird rally carbs + orig minilites

1968 FIAT 124 SPORT Private Cars For Sale in SA - carsales.com.au
Not sure If I'm game to buy either of the older italian cars, even though they appear near immaculate.

below is One of the 2 FWD cars cool enough to make me want them, 1979 Mk1 golf - the other Is an orig/jap mini.
    http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...o=180&__N=1216

Basically These cars I think are very interesting, though not all would eventuate into something worth while.

I am abit sceptical of the commodore engine in the KE70 corolla, even though it would be a hoot.

I do like the MA70 supras, and I have a fair mind to what I want to do with one to get it looking amazing, both are white but have a few differences.. the fact they have 232 hp (173 kW) at 5600 rpm and 240 ft·lb (325 N·m) at 4000 rpm is also a benifit!

    Thoughts guys? cheers

Go with the Alfa. Yo won't be able to go anywhere but makes the others (except the Fiat) look so meh...

Escort RS Van could be interesting too. But you'd have to change the gear knob at least.

The 124 Coupe is a real sleeper, if that car is rust free, go for it.

And a transaxle gearbox with problematic cable operation?

As Jeremy Clarkson says: "Every true gearhead needs to own an Alfa before they die". So that would be my choice, idk how reliable it'll be so that leads me to say go for the Corolla as a back up

Hadn't seen the Golf in the original post. It'll only do if it's a GTI.

I'd have the Alfa or Fiat, if they were in appropriate condition. Definately check out the Alfa if it's just up the road anyway. Otherwise a Gazelle is pretty cool, but a Corolla with a welded diff just sounds like a recipe for regular tyre replacement. The Stanza or Lancer would be cool for rareness lulz. Still, if you want fastness.. it'd have to be one of the Supras.

    Yeah, 7M-GTE.

Its a pitty I missed out on the Keto, but it was a love of opportunity. It was a good looking way to fit my needs list, but other keto's are pretty rough/worn

I've read up on the 7M-GTE and beyond needing to re torque the bolts on the case they're realistically bulletproof and reliable.

cracked heads and gaskets are a fault from the bolts, re torque them and there isnt a drama.

The faster I use fuel, the faster everyone else has to help find a solution. I'm doing my bit for the environment.
