Postie bikes are cheap, reliable and easy to pass the Ps test on. But I imagine you want something with some more grunt than that.
that is why he must do it

Got passed on the M4 by a whale of a man on a CBR somethingorother on my way home tonight. I had to laugh. He was twice as wide as the bike.

I'd like to question that actually.
I've been semi-seriously looking at bikes as well, and I've heard and read good things about the 250 as a good learner bike, especially for taller riders like Blue and myself would be. What's the reason you say not to buy them?
Everyone in my office rides, except me, thus peer pressured into getting bike license. So everyones telling me what to and not get. Bandit 250 is also a potential option.
Having been around a few dealers, spoken to a lot of riders, the Hyosung isnt looking too bad, its full sized so itll fit me well, has a good rep despite being Korean, I cant afford something like a Ninja 250 would be ridiculously small for me anyway. I dont want a trail bike style or a cruiser.
So find me a full sized LAMS sports bike for under 2k and ill look at it.

They have dubious mechanical reliability. They're getting better, but the stuff that goes is big stuff. Which segues nicely into point 2: warranty support, or lack thereof. PS Imports are very narky about honouring warranty claims, not just for cheapy Hyosungs, Triumphs as well. But the biggest thing is the reason they're cheap is because they use cheap components. Crappy alloy that will break instantly when it inevitably ends up on it's side. Shitty tyres, pads, discs etc etc. They're not sports bikes anyway. If you're a taller rider, get a GS500 or ER-5. They're good solid learner bikes, reliable as the tide, there's plenty around and they're cheap. Plus, since they're not faired, cheaper to fix when you fall over in the driveway.
Get the Bandit. 'tis a brilliant bike.
