After reading my newest blog, please share your first car with us No matter what you drove as your first ride.......you gained the freedom and independence of a set of wheels, and they were yours!!!

Some of you on this site might be surprised at what my first car was

I still remember (fondly) my first (fully owned, fully paid) car.

A 17 year old Audi with a six cylinder engine. It was impossibly thirsty, understeered like hell and cost a fortune to run. So, it was awful.

But it was very comfortable, effortlessly fast, compact and smooth. So, it was brilliant.

In the end it decided to stop working completely. A shame.

Yep..............good point! There is a big difference between the first car you drove and the first car that you owned as your own That feeling is entirely different........the ownership you take on when driving the car that you have blood/sweat/tear/$$ invested in makes you appreciate it alot more!!
    Thanks, Joe

My first car was a 1966 Dodge Dart GT V-8.

I really enjoyed driving it. Did many mods myself... electronic ignition, a Carter AFB 4-bbl 500 cfm carb which replaced the 2-bbl, unsilenced air cleaner and shift kit for the Torqueflite automatic transmission. Also, 3.23 gears replaced the 2.93s and dual exhaust was installed.

I timed 40-60 mph in 4 seconds and 50-70 mph in 4.8 seconds after the mods.

Here are some photos of it...

'00 Ford Focus ZTS, Zetec 16v engine, and a slushbox tranny. Not a terribly bad or great car, it was bought with 12k miles on the clock and had an apparently incurable brake squeal and mirror glass which mysteriously fell off while washing the car. Could also have used either a more responsive engine, or better fuel economy. Black paint was hard to keep looking nice; I had two black cars, therefore: the first and the last.

Too bad as it was otherwise a pretty decent compact...lacking only a 6-speed DIY box...I always did like the nice seats, steering wheel cruise controls, plood trim, decent ride, and good handling.
An it harm none, do as ye will
