those track marshalls are a bunch of loonies.

#1 is dead. Audi's win looks certain.

LOL at hellcat's quotation of my own.
Damn Audi...

At least, maybe Oreca's car can break Audi's 1-2-3.
EDIT No it can't because it's broken...

Audi's strategy for Le Mans: sabotage Peugeot, then wait.
Peugeot's strategy for Le Mans: drive, brake, fix, drive faster, retire.
Saleen's strategy for Le Mans: design a car, wait 9 year and a bazillion changes of rules, wait again, and win (possibly).

still happy for them , but the slower pace than the GT2s has also to do with the new rules, making GT1s quite slower than usual.
I call Audi sabotaged the whole field.
Does anybody remember if there is is a difference in the size of the tank between diesel and petrol prototypes, and if yes, how much?

Yes. 90L for petrol, 81L for diesel.

Saleen... that's something, sort of like when Panoz won GT2 in 2006 I think.

Audi wins 1-2-3. They outlasted Peugeot. Congratulations to all the teams!
Congrats to Audi, Honda, Saleen and Porsche.

the tank size for diesel is smaller than for petrol (81-90 liters IIRC), the justification for this is that diesel fuel contains 10% more energie than petrol, therefore the cars carry the same amount of energy.
On another note, this was quite a bizar race, I am very curious to know what part of the engine broke down in three Peugeots.
Apart from did, Audi did a perfect job by winning with a car that was in terms of raw speed no match for the Peugeots. In hindsight one can always say that raw speed was not required, but it was quite obvious that at the few moments that Audi actually tried to keep up, they could not.

Well, after more than 16hours, the Audi's were only 2 laps behind. That's not that much. If you have a flat tire, that's probably not enough to hold on to the lead. Even if they were not really behind them like the Vette-Ferrari in GT2, they were putting pressure on them for the entire race.
I am especially sorry for Pedro Lamy that sees his car always with problems. I wonder if he'll ever win a Le Mans race. But still, I'm very happy for Audi.
