Ever heard of the Mosler MT900

would you pay 160,000 for only 435hp....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    0-60 in 3.13
    1/4 mile 11.02 @126pmh
    braking 60-0 in 100ft
    slalom 74.7mph

TOP SPEED IS ONLY 165MPH!!! WHAT THE???!!!1

and why you might ask is it only capable of 165mph???

    Aerodynamically Limited "true" top speed

you would think that a car this sleek would be aerodynamically advantaged

Well there's lots I could say.
    - paying for acceleration in place of top speed.
    - Usability of the drive maybe.
    - Focus on markets they wish to sell in ? ( Bikes have agreed limits for years now to ensure no legal action is taken )

However for the Mosler, I'll let it's win in GTS class in the Rolex 24 Daytona last year speak for itself

It's been decades since you were able to buy a Ferrari or Audi Le Mans winner for road use

The 165mph top speed is probably because of gear ratios, the MT900 is practically a race car. You don't want gearing that will let you go 200mph if you are racing on a track where you are only going to get to 165mph. I'm sure the MT900 could go much faster than 165 if it was set up for max speed.
Also how dare you badmouth the MT900 what kind of car enthusiast are you!

    yes ONLY 435 HP
it is also light weight and handles very well, it is worth the money. so the HP doesn't matter if it is that light weight, it also goes to 60 in less than an Enzo can.

For less than $200,000 you can take the MT900 racing in the Rolex Sportscar Series and you can't argue with that.

warren mosler (i think it's warren) is a pure auto enthusiast. He began building his own cars out of his own passion and pocketbook. His original cars used a split front window that was dog ugly. The MT900 is a cooperative effort between him and somebody else...i forget who.

The car is similar to the saleen, and equally low in production numbers. Truly a track car gone road. I'd love to own one- Think enzo beater for less than a Modena? HP figures only go so far before it just doesn't matter.

And yeah, the top speed is probably gearing limited. Since the car is made in low numbers, actual performance probably varies, similar to the saleen. I can believe the 3.13 0-60 though, I can't in the S7 R&T test.

i agree with you guys that is is from gear ratios, but the motor trend article i read said it was only because it was aerodynamically limited

and the reason i said 160,000 is too much for this car is because
for alot cheaper, you can buy the corvetteZ06
the mt900 uses the same engine, so buying a corvette and tuning it could make it as fast and then you wouldn't be aerodynamically limited

It is an american car...why it was put in here is beyond me....
Well anways the mosler also came 2nd to the purpose built race car the 427 monaro in the bathurst 24 hour and against a better field came 5 last year We even had Mr Mosler himself come down to bathurst to whatch his cars! I cant see why your knocking it at all its a great and versatile package and is much cheaper then a lot more cars with much the same performance...
