Lola Mk6 GT and Delahaye 135 that starred at Monterey in full detail ...

When assessing a potential Le Mans entry, the Ford Motor Company looked at various specialist manufacturers to partner with. Thanks to this Mk6 GT, Lola and its founder/designer Eric Broadley were eventually picked. Raced at select events during the 1963 season, the Mk6 GT was built around a sophisticated monocoque chassis and featured a mid-mounted Ford V8. The car's design would form the basis of what would eventually become the Le Mans winning Ford GT40. Of the three Mk6 GTs built, two were powered by a Ford V8 and both are now featured. This includes the prototype, which was shown at the London Motor Show in 1963. In the same hands since the 1960s, it has recently been completely restored and was one of the stars of The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering.
At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance both Chapron and Delahaye were featured marques. Among the special classes was one for Chapron bodied Delahayes. The best in class award was won by this 135 Coupe des Alpes Roadster. Acquired by the current owner at auction in 2014, it had previously been owned by a member of the French Resistance and was then driven on the road for most of its life by just two subsequent owners. Although in full running order, the car required a complete restoration at the hands of Butch Dennison and his skilful crew. As can be seen in this 21-shot gallery, their work was rightly awarded with a best in class trophy.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
