Rapide to be built outside of UK
Aston Martin announced today that the sports saloon Rapide will be built by Magna Steyr in Austria, thus being the first Aston built outside of United Kingdom.
The new factory, called AMRP - Aston Martin Rapide Plant, will be built near Graz. It will resemble the acclaimed new Gaydon plant and the Cologne-based Aston Martin Engine Plant. Production is expected to bein in early 2009, with projected output of 2000 cars per year.
The Gaydon plant is currently running at nearly full capacity, producing 8000 V8 Vantage, DB9 and DBS cars per year.
