    Hispano Suiza

    Hi Folks,
Yesterday afternoon driving home did I notice this beauty parked in front of a local restaurant. A minute or two after I started to take images the owner with his family came, embarked and left the parking lot.
That is why I was even allowed to hear a very uncommon but nice sound of the big HS engine.

well spotted, do you know whether it was a car built by Skoda? They did a few in the late twenties. I have seen one at Retromobile a couple of years ago at the Skoda stand.

Sorry, I do not know anything more. I would have a lot of questions, but they were in a hurry.

I have finally found something about that HS.
According to data found it is 1932 Hispano Suiza H6S with eight litre engine.
It was bought outside our country and that is why it is probably an original HS, not Skoda license-built car.
It was in a very sad condition and was restored completelly by the new owner.
The body was designed by Vaclav Zapadlik, a contemporary czech designer, artist and grafic artist. How close the bodywork compares to the original one remains in question. Maybe, I will meet the gentleman in the future during a show and will be allowed to know something more.

Atractive at first sight however small wheels spoils-IMO- the overall stance. Front grille design a bit fanciful as well. It is a real H-S or just another replica ? The Grebel front lights looks fine.

It is not the original HS, it is a Skoda licence-built example. In no way is it a replica.

The art of "Maestro" Vaclac Zapadlik deserves great applause: his very personal and detailed treatment of classic and vintage iconic motor cars on vivid backgrounds is a genuine sample of evocative good taste.
Enclose a front view of period H6B H-S bodied by Labourdette.
