Top 5 Most Powerful Cars on the Market today!

    Five Most Powerful Cars

Yeouch! Looks like 600 is the new benchmark in horsepower, at least until (if?) the 987-bhp Bugatti Veyron reaches production. What’s interesting here are the cars that didn’t make the list—the Bentley Continental GT (552 bhp), Ford GT (550), Dodge Viper SRT-10 (500), Lamborghini Gallardo (500), and Porsche 911 GT2 (477), just to name a few. To further put things into perspective, consider that it took about 485 bhp to win Le Mans in 1966.

    1. Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren: 617 bhp
    2. Porsche Carrera GT: 605 bhp
    3. Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG: 604 bhp
    4. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG: 604 bhp
    5. Lamborghini Murciélago: 580 bhp

Not much of a surprise the powerhorse SLR is first

Yeah I was going to say this too. Jeez some of these lists need to be like heavily examined, no one ever agrees with them.

EDIT: What would be the fun if they did though I guess.

    koenigsegg cc-r - 807 bhp
    koenigsegg cc-8 - 665 bhp
slr mclaren - 626 bhp (1 bhp less than the mclaren f1)
    cl65 amg - 612

Brabus V12s have more power than the CL/SL/S65s and are technically classed as production cars

isnt there like a euro-spec figure for bhp thats usually slighty different than the american one ? I remember the M3 was being rated at 343bhp and 333bhp with the difference being something about the different standards between the US and Europe. Is the difference in the testing itself or is it a difference in the engine specs to match emissions regulations or something ?
