The way I see it, performance cars today are about maximum propulsion with their 35-section tires and ESP-type electronic nannies, they aren't really geared for driver/machine unison. At least not in the way of simpler sport scars of old. So if a good sequential manual (DSG) furthers the performance envelope then I'm all for it. However, a model like the Cayman S, which is much more of a elemental car, the purer the better. It should be available with completely defeatable ESP and a proper manual, so you can slip the clutch in needed, engage at higher RPM for a bit of wheelspin, etc and basically have more control than even the best SMGs can offer. Plus, it'll give those with a well-trained right arm to stay busy.

Actually I'd love if Porsche offered a stripped out base Cayman, a sort of everyday-capable Lotus Exige...

These pics are too cool dude, thanks again. By the way, the electric spoiler doesnt seem to raise much does it? Still, only fault Id make with the car would be that the exhaust pipes need to be a bit chunkier, otherwise pure unadulterated cool.

BTW I agree about the exhausts, quad pipes would have really swung me to loving this car. I've been staring at and resizing the images for a while...I'm starting to like it, but only in that blue so far. I'd prefer different wheels too.
