Visited Top Gear's MPH show in Johannesburg

We got the cheapish disabled tickets, but the seating was right in front, in front of the really expensive seats. Pretty cool.

The show is loads of fun, some astonishing driving and the Top Gear boys were in good and amusing form. Definitely worth seeing......... once, but too gimmicky to see too often. A bit like trickshot snooker, awesome, plenty oooh and awww, but then rack em up, lets play the real game.

Fortunately, there were lots of great cars to check out in the static displays, thought you all would like a peek.

A number plate on a Vette which amused me

Don't really have the gear to take pics of the show itself, but here's Clarkson and Hammond

    Hope you like.

    Great pics, Doug!
Why does Hammond have a crutch? Did he hurt himself on a bike of some sort?
What is that (Chinese) monstrosity behind and to the left of the Police Lamborghini in the first post?
    That A1GP car is sick.

    LOL

i love it when the rich suffer an injury only exclusive to their class

"oh god i was counting my money one day when i fell, knocking over the stack of money onto my back and breaking it. oh the horror" </fail>
it was actually me who killed vasilli zaitsev, heinz thorwald, carlos hatchcock, and simo hayha

Hammond was being a typical "bloke".
His wife was competing and he doesn't have a horse to ride so was "borrowing" one for a cross country event and got thrown Not abel to cope with a wife who can do somethign better than him

It's not only the "rich" who compete ... and if they WERE rich then by the time two daughters have ridden for 10 years of their teenage years I can assure you we are skint

Many folks have said that going to a TG/MPH show for a second time is a waste, like you say like trick shots it is fun but falls short of what you'd REALLY like to see .... Clarkson run over May with a 4 engined tractor

Glad you both managed to get out to see it. Rest of family with you too ?

My son was there but not with us plebs. He got VIP tickets for himself and his gf and had dinner with Clarkson, Hammond and various South African celebs. Humph!!!

I doubt it's the real car. For a start the number plate is fake.

this, it's fake, the blue is too dark, the white bits don't match, the plate is fake, the lights on the roof are fake and so on.

EDIT: and the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Have a few more pics, but the lighting defeated my 'point-n-click' camera on some so I've had to lift the gamma a bit which kinda spoils them. Anyway, here you go:
