    Volvo S60/V60 (2nd gen) 2010-2018

Sculpted to move you - first pictures of the all-new Volvo S60

Here are the first official pictures of the all-new Volvo S60 - sportier and more dynamic than any previous Volvo model.

"The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks and drives like no other Volvo before and the car's technology will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel," says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection - a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.

The all-new Volvo S60 is being unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year. Production of the sporty sedan model will start in early summer 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.

"Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around," says Stephen Odell.

I imagine it being very colour dependant, but overall I'm quite liking this.

The Catwalk is being downplayed, which is a shame. but the new flowing element just isn't very distinctive - everycar has one these days.

The interior, I presume, will be gorgeous.

The front is a bit awful though.

Does this mean the end of the S40?

so gone from the S60 Concept, shown in Geneva earlier this year are:
The suicide doors, the absence of a B-pillar and the glas roof and some other details, all of which did make the car stand out. Now it is just back to normal

Don't know, but in the profile pic it doesn't look especially big, and the S40 is already knocking on the doors of the D-segment (at which this is aimed).

I think they'd like to lose a little money as possible with this car...

Not very nice, not a lot of identity, i could pick some details from FIAT, Mercedes, Ford, i'd still take an S40 from the current line up. This doesnt look Volvo.

I don't like it much, it needs some more boxy-ness. The front end looks shriveled.

It's pretty good from the front doors back, but jeez is the front ugly. I think there's too much goin on there w/ the 4 openings and the xtra set of lights inset

They've softened the front a bit too much from the concept I think. The headlights are too big now. Definitely an improvement though. Bigger wheels should help it too (as usual)

I'm quite surprised that it's this close to the concept with the suicide doors.
okay it has a B pillar and even a extra pillar in the back window.
The lines are pretty much the same.

With that said, I think this fits the new Volvo line (XC60, new C70 and C30)
But I don't like it for one bit. I'd rather buy a Peugeot, even though i think Peugeots are all hideous, these new Volvo are just too .....nothing actually.

Looks nice, other than the over complicated front, and the ultra-high window-line, especially noticeable just above the rear wheels...

How great would it be if the TV ads showed some insane ex-girlfriend trying to run over her boyfriend and the car kept braking before she could?

I can see who the male star in this commercial would be...
