The outside lights will almost certainly be smaller for Orion than the inside lights. Think Accord Euro with how theyve done it.

Thanks for the big pic - which almost suggests a VZ-style snout for bonnet & grille, along with the teardrop headlights a-la VX

Great to see the comparitively deep side-glass & lowish beltline make a comeback on Orion for that traditional airy Falcon cabin feel

Btw on old Subarus and Alfasuds their low flat-4 engine arrangement used to provide enough spare height under the bonnet for the spare wheel to be stored in there lying horizontally above the motor

Actually it's behind the motor on the old Subarus. The engine's mounted so far forward there's tons of room.

Just seen the on the news ford is to stop building fairlaines.. So the territory might replace the LWB models as the luxo it might be something different.

IMO they should keep the Fairlane name and apply it to a Falcon variant, perhaps above the Fairmont Ghia.

That'd be a very silly idea.

Also means wagon will be based on the swb model which should give it more of a sport wagon look.

If they want to hold on to their continuous running nameplate record then its not so silly.

A record doesn't sell cars. A record won't annoy Ford faithful by sticking it on a Falcon.

No it doesnt. Orion is continuing as essentially the same chassis as BF from the front bulkhead forward, since the only difference should be the adoption of the Territory's front suspension and a front end module more accomodating of the 5.4L V8. Everything back from that, the bits that are actually different between a Falcon, Falcon wagon, Falcon ute and Fairlane, all remain the same.

It's nice to have and a bloody shame to lose. The Fairlane wasn't always LWB anyway, was it?

The US Fairlanes were always a "medium" sized car alongside the "compact" Falcon, even the compact Fairlane wouldve been bigger than a Falcon, and the local Fairlanes have always had the extended wheelbase.

Well lets be honest. who knows someone who bought a fairlane recently?

if you want a big car like that you either go for the best in the market (euro) or buy a Fairmont Ghia - when they're that well priced and that capable a few feet of legroom matters little.

Makes me wonder what the point is? We wanted a new car not an almost new car But all considering the diffrence from AU-BA im assuming this will be a similar upgrade.

New front suspension is a good thing the bit im wondering about if the future development of the engines? like many years ago there was alot of talk of makeing an all alloy version of the 6 and a possiblity of a n/a version with 220 odd kw (perfect for the non turbo xr6). And what still remains my biggest queastion the v8 will we see vvt-i? alloy block?driect injection? is there any news on that front or is it not touched yet?
