Along with. Both will be gone for the 2010 update, in their place will be either the 3.5 or 3.7 Duratec, possibly 3.5 twinforce/ecoboost, probably 2.7 PSA diesel, and either the 5L or 5.8/6.2L V8

If they can't be bothered with it until a replacement is available, it seems the best option would be to axe the XR8, and keep at least the FPV GT as the halo for marketing/arguing on the internets purposes.

Guys who drive V8's always disrespect 6's by saying, "Hey you got 2 cylinders missing?"

No. The actual rule is that the production car must offer a 5.0 litre OHV V8 engine.
V8 Supercars Australia has conveniently overlooked that particular rule since 1999 when Holden dropped the 5.0 litre OHV V8 from their production lineup.....
Ford will continue to be allowed to compete in V8 Supercars whatever engines they have in their production lineup.

Everybodies been getting away with everything in the V8's. VE Commodore isnt elligible under Project Blueprint but they allowed it to be specially homologated anyway, and Ford's taking the same liberty for FG.

The stock car's wheelbase is too long. Project Blueprint mandated maximum wheelbase, minimum overhangs, maximum track width etc to eliminate too much of a variance between the different weight balances and footprints on the road. At the time, the BA and VY fit those dimensions fine.

VESA tried to push though a standard floorpan for all the cars to race on by the time VE wouldve been racing, but the teams couldnt all agree to use it so theyre in the position theyre in now.

Well if it was the BTCC, WTCC, NASCAR or some other organisation with at least a 3rd party there'd probably be a written in stone solution to it all. As its only Ford and Holden, its their own playground. Apparently Ford had no problem with Holden running silhouette cars so long as they can when its their turn to update.

I think so, as well as having a floor section from VZ.

Yep. The last cars to race in V8 Supercar that had a 5.0 litre OHV V8 production engine available in the showroom were the Commodore VT and Falcon AU.

This is probably a question better dealt with in another thread, but what would you propose replacing V8 Supercar with? And would the catagory be open to all manufacturers or just Ford & Holden?

I think there has been declining interest in V8 Supercar in recent seasons, partly due to the closed shop nature of the series (only Ford & Holden), the lack of passing, and the dominence by a couple of teams.
