about the 40 mpg, I guess it could be achievable thanks to a twin turbo system, sequentials of course.
With the smaller one working at low revs, with a low inertia, a specifically tuned ECU and direct injection, it could work, even if that would reduce, even if slightly, the performance delivered at those lower revs.

apart from that, I can't bother of a car increasing the dimensions, so the weight more likely, and then loosing only 220 lbs of them.
I would prefer the present car (smaller and lighter) to receive those upgrades.
but if the only thing we can get, it's still welcomed.

What will that be called? 1/2 series?
This is what I've been thinking too. Bigger =/= better. Disappointed if the 1 would "grow in all dimensions" as they claim.

    also lol @ SS

I think they're taking the SS moniker instead of tii since more people are familiar with SS meaning performance/top of the line. Stupid IMO but, yeah.

i think its silly that they call it an ss...that being said it sounds pretty interesting because i think the 1 series is super sweet (maybe thats what they should says SS stands for)

Bring back the 135tii, the 8 series, the M1 super car, and throw in a decent M5 and M6 (with a heavy diet) while you're at it.

Basically, I listed everything a BMW lover would want.

I would have been happy if they'd built that CLS type thing. With a huge atmo motor.

This man is wise. A BMW lover would blow their load if these cars were made.

Probably not with this situation. They will however probably make X Ms though.

    Yay.

A new M1 though maybe - that design study they did if it got enough interest may generate something. 8 series I would doubt. Now is probably not a good time to expand into more performance cars though, and it may not have even been economical wise before all this crap happened. The 8 series and M1 lasted only so long for a reason in the end.

"Although the high-performance version of the next 1-Series will essentially be an M1, BMW wanted to stay clear of that nameplate as to not confuse the 1-Series variant with the supercar of the same name from the late 1970s and early 80s. Instead, BMW will call the car the Super Sport."

    LOL!

So, BMW don't want any nameplate confusion, eh?

FFS, call it the 2009 M1 - how confusing is that?
It's not like they made MILLIONS of them - only about 450 were ever built anyhow...

given that the X5/X3 etc etc still exist, not the same as a BMW lover of old... higher percentage soccer mums perhaps?
