    Aston Martin V8 Vantage 1977-1989

    ASTON MARTIN V8 Vantage (1977 - 1989)

Description & History: Considered by most automotive critics as Great Britain's first supercar, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was introduced to the large public in 1977. Its incredible power came from a 5.3L V8 engine delivering 394 hp and reaching the 0-60 mph line in 5.3 seconds. Not to be confused with the high-performance versions of the later-developed Virage series, the V8 Vantage model featured a closed roof (core-like) & grille and a new spoiler. Several updates were brought to this model throughout the years, with the most important being the introduction of a new V8 unit (shared with the Zagato GT model) delivering 430 hp and reaching a top speed of 186 mph (1986 to 1989, version 580X V8 Vantage).

Cool ... surprised to see high-res pics of such an old car!
While we're on Aston Martin ... I have to ask if you have any pics of the Virage V8 and Vantage series. There have been some one-off custom bodied cars (Shooting Brake V600, Virage Lagonda, etc...). Would you happen to have something about these cars? thx in advance...

I thought you'd never ask, I know there are Virage V8 and newer Vantage pics (i think there may even be a couple of the Shooting Brake). I'll do some more digging and post what I come up with...

I'd take any of those. Wasn't the "newer" vantage banned because of it's engine?

i think you're right, i heard that the emissions were too high so it didnt fit legal regulations so it wasnt allowed to be made.
