As part of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance week, the three major auction companies will stage a sale. Hosting the official auction is RM Sotheby's, who have expanded to a two-day sale for the first time. Headlining the auction is this Bugatti Type 57 S Corsica Four Seat Tourer, which has a pre-sale estimate of $6 - 7.5 million. Bugatti built 40 examples of the underslung Type 57 S and the consigned example is one of just two clothed by Corsica Coachworks with this four-seat tourer body. Among the previous owners have been Judge John North, General William Lyons and the Blackhawk Collection.
Among the other great cars consigned is a great example of the mighty Maserati MC12 Corsa. The sale also caters to fans of big block V8-engined machinery with a very rare Shelby Cobra 427 Competition and the second to last Cobra 427 road car built.
Our absolute favourite car in the sale is the fantastic Toyota Eagle GTP Mk II. Meticulously restored by Canepa, this is a fabulous example of Dan Gurney's All American Racers built GTP cars.
