here's a great article on the subject of 'vista only' games:

read this.
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US...DirectX10.aspx
It says: "DX10 adds a new level of realism to games by making characters more life-like" and suggest that Halo (which is simply an ugly game, no matter what version of DirectX it utilizes) represents the best looking graphics that DirectX9 can achieve.
I've been into computer gaming all my life, since the first introduction of the Sega Megadrive... and the fact has always been that regardless of platform, while some games are stunning, most others plain ugly. It makes me laugh and cry at the same time to see Microsoft tout the benefits of DirectX 10 by comparing an ugly old game designed for less powerful gaming setups to an upcoming stunning graphics card smoking quad-core eating spectacle that has not even been released yet.
DirectX10 might be good... but it seems too much to ask for Microsoft to keep things real!
I'm thinking that microsoft are running out of ideas other than crysis and a few other games to actually persuade people to buy a completely brand new pc. "I know, get a game that uses some of the earliest dx9 features and compare it to Crysis."
Funny..if they compared HL2 characters faces to Crysis, there would be almost no difference. Keep trying, Mr Gates.
therefore, a more worthy comparison:

Just a side note:
ATi's 2xxx series should perform better under DX10, since the shaders (320 of them ) were most likely designed for DX10
And there are still many games that aren't compatible or run with gliches.
