McLaren (F1-1981-1983) MP4/1

The McLaren MP4/1 (initially known as the MP4) was a Formula One racing car produced by the McLaren team. It was used during the 1981, 1982 and 1983 seasons. It was the first Formula One car to use a carbon fibre composite monocoque, a concept which is now ubiquitous.

The MP4 was the first car to be built following the merger of the McLaren team and Ron Dennis' Project 4 team, as the car's name (short for "Marlboro Project 4")indicates.

Wow, so this is where the Marlboro livery all started...

Smoking be damned, racing needs more tobacco companies as sponsors.

Do you have any of the MP4/4?

I know there's this...

But it's worth a shot!

Thanks in advance!

Marlboro first appeared on the M23, chassis #4. The first three cars used the Yardley cosmetics sponsering, which was replaced by the Texaco Marlboro livery shown here, on the actual chassis number 4

the first Marlboro only livery appeared on the M29, a car of which McLaren hardly wants to be remembered about. Here chassis 1 and 4
