Apparently, it will take some time until we'll finally see it, but it will come.
"who will start producing a new car from September."
That's September 2010 they're talking about by the way.

Gullwing operates closely with Alan Lubinsky-owned AC Cars, who has a reputation for creating stupid amounts of debt. But they only have a minority share; unfortunately Smolensky, who still owns the vast majority of TVR, couldn't care less about what happens to the marque.

People liked TVR because Peter Wheeler/Trevor Wilkinson were real car nuts, and it wasn't difficult to get in touch with them directly (much like Lawrence Tomlinson of Ginetta). The second you turn TVR into a faceless company you scare away all prospective owners because it's impossible for them to tell if the company is going to be operating in 12-months time. Any communication you have with the company is then supplied by a call-center drone who simply reads out answers from a piece of paper that they are given and have no real knowledge of the product they are representing.

    My 2 cents.

His father, Alexander Smolensky in the late 20 th century was one of the leaders of Russia's banking sector, where fraudulently stole from the state budget and the depositor's money 500-1000 million euros, and fled the country. And then his son, Nikolai Smolenski, who himself earned nothing, buys TVR.
It is obvious that the purchase was executed on the very same stolen money.

^ And then TVR starts to collapse. Thanks, Smolensky.

That article was written almost exactly a year ago, and we've heard nothing. I think it was ambitious and short-sighted. Who knows what's happened to that deal between now and then.

New TVR 'On Sale In 2012' Says Smolenski

I'll believe it when I see it. However, who's gonna buy a car from that crook?

With or without Smolensky, TVR still have no future -
    TVR Sagaris (400 hp) - £58,000
    BMW M3 Coupe (420 hp) - £55,000
    Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (505 hp) - £55,000
    Nissan GT-R (530 hp) - £70,000
What do you think, how many people will want to buy an English car?

    Well,

The Corvette is too crude, the M3 too soft and the GT-R too artificial.

There you go, the market for the TVR is there.

    Probably.

^^^^ and it's not Peter Wheeler's baby .... and it won't be "English".

SO there goes the market then !!!

Smolensky is living on another planet if he thinks the likes of Caterham or Lotus would even TOUCH his dodgy businesses with a barge pole

Most buyers need just that, they do not possess the skill Michael Schumacher, and not ready to die
Also, do not want to face the service challenges of a rare car. With the production of a large manufacturer (Chevrolet, BMW, Nissan), lives much easier.
With regard to TVR, the year it will buy 200-300 people, most of them remain in England. The company will remain unprofitable.

I'd buy one (a Tuscan) in a heartbeat over all alternatives if I could afford it. Maybe in a few years...but I'm already a member of the TVR Car Club. It's just a waiting game.

Oh, and if the Sagaris was a bit pricey, you could buy an identical drivetrain and chassis in the form of a Tuscan S for £39,995. Compare that to a Boxster etc. The TVR would slaughter them.

To be fair, Porsche is in business.

We could argue that Porsche is in business after some fishy activities with their stocks (I know they were cleared or they are getting clear, but seriously, do we really expect them to be found guilty?!) and with VW money.

I'd consider a TVR if I culd afford at least 2 other cars, one of which being a grand tourer. Something comfortable yet sporty as a... GranTurismo. That's why it's called GranTurismo
The other car being something more roomy, like a MB R-Klase. You know it's my softspot.

TVR isn't something I could see myself in covering like 60 km a day, and trying to get it decently serviced over here. And I'd probably find something more appealing to my likings in that price range, even in the second hand market.

Would be definitely cool to own a Tuscan though.

    Top Gear Test Track

    Corvette Z06 - 1.22.4
    TVR Sagaris - 1.24.6

    Nordschleife
    Corvette Z06 - 7:42.90
    TVR - ?

For a ride to work or family vacation, they both do not fit

Engine size? But he, TVR is not small too (4 liter). You can think of the europeans AMG 63 (6,2 liter) or Bentley (6,75 liter)...

I'll glady take a Sagaris, none of the other cars have the mad look or the sound of the TVR 6.

Why not post the power to weight ratios?
