    Audi R9

just got my new copy of evo
THe le mans is to be called the R9 and its going to be out in 18 months time

    V8, 4163cc
    mid, longitudinal
    414bhp@7800rpm
    177mph
    0-60= 4.5
    weight 1550kg

should have the same torque layout as the RS4 therefor 40% going to the front and the rest going to the back.the led lights wont make it to the production car but the rest should be there.
should give the 911 a run for its money hopefully

Yeah just got my Evo issue this morning too. The new Audi does look fantastic but I worry that most of the prototype's daring and extravagent styling will be replaced by typically reserved Audi understatement by the time it gets to full production. I also have reservations about the weight. It aint a big car by the looks of it but ways in at a decidedly chubby 1550kg, not entirely promising for the expected Porsche matching dynamic potential.

It's a very good issue this month, definitley worth a trip to your local newsagent if you don't have a subscription. The centrepiece is a 13 car shootout to find the best road/track compromise. Very good article. There's also a behind-the-scenes research article into the night-time testing of the stunning new Zonda F, which I'm off to read now! I love the way Evo manage to get access to the development of such exclusive and specialist cars like they have done with Pagani and with Caterham, it's much more interesting seeing how these cars gestate and grow rather than just having roadtests on the finished article IMHO.

    cool
they probs make it lighter with all the aluminium bits etc... and in the article the guy did say about the styling so im just hoping for the best

still the v10 version will definatly obliterate the porshe 911

It would be foolish of Audi to release a car that was significantly more powerful, and possibly faster than the Lamborghini Gallardo.

If Audi make cars better than Lamborghini - what is the point of Lamborghini?
    Thanks for all the fish

The successor to Audi's multiple ALMS, LMS and Le Mans winning racecars, one of the most succesful cars of its type, will be a 400bhp coupe?

    I rather hope not...

well considering the fact that the R8 races in le mans i would suppose the R9 is the succesor to the R8.

the r8 is a LMP RACE car and the r9 is a production ROAD car. the two are unrelated.

they're all in different categories none of them succes each other.
    and the R9
comes with two engines one of them has 500bhp
and i dont think thats under powered
so it weighs i think 90 kg more than the lamborgini and has the same engine, so it wont be better, and in my mind its a different type of car as its comfy inside in comparison to the lamborgini.

so as it weighs more and has less power than a comparable car it is automatically worse?

there are many examples of cars being heavier and not as powerful but being better cars. i think you may be confusing 'better' with 'faster'

    nope
if it weighs more it has a worse acceleration seeing as it has the same engine.
i never said it would be worse i said that its probs in a different category.

its still going to be a mad car
