You take out Michael Phelps and the US still won 22 medals, over 3 times as many as the Chinese, but Michael Phelps is part of the TEAM, so can't really say "Look out how many they would have won without him!".

Take it how you will, but the Chinese did better at judged events than timed/scored events.

All this Olympic talk makes me want some Chinese food...

Shouldn't the second one be spelled "humor"? You're speaking to an American, dammit.

Don't forget boxing. Olympic boxing is extremely subjective, and if you watched any of the matches involving Chinese boxers you might have felt very confused. At times, it seemed as though Chinese boxers were being awarded points for hitting the opponent's glove with their face.

The Cubans are notoriously dominant in boxing, and Americans and Russians have consistently strong showings. This year the Cuban boxers were awarded a total of 0 gold medals while the Chinese, having never won a boxing gold medal ever, came away with two golds, a silver and a bronze. They had more boxers make it to the quarterfinals than any other nation, and tied for the most gold medals with Russia. The Americans had their worst showing since 1948, with only one bronze medal. The American boxers this year were not as good as some of the ones we had in the past. However, there was clearly some very poor judging and more than a little "home cooking".

I seem to recall you posting jokes making offence of Englishmen - why are they ok but jokes about homosexuality inappropriate?

Is it because homosexuals have typically been persecuted and looked down upon?

It's mostly because Homosexuality is constantly derided in popular culture IE use of the word "gay" as a synonym of "lame" or "stupid".

Most of the jokes were meant in jest, but playing to stereotypes about sports culture just makes you look silly.

The bus was cool, but how in the hell does David Beckham receive the biggest reaction?
