I guess the versions that work on XP, will work on Vista too. I think you should look around the Adobe website for more info...

Adobe has announced that they will not be patching their products for Vista. So looks like you'll have to get CS3 unless you can make CS2 work

CS2 works fine on my Vista Ultimate Beta, not sure if it'll work on the retail Vista though.

There is talk of photoshop acting up on vista. It's pathetic that Adobe does not want to patch the old version. Probably a pathetic attempt to prevent its customers from buying Vista. I have CS2 and have now decided not to upgrade.

Vista really isn't worth it anyway. I have it on my desktop at home and I absolutely hate it.

I can really recommend it though ! It's general lay-out is different, which improves the experience a lot. Above that it is a lot quicker to work with ! It does require more from your system, or it is just the size of some pictures I have !

And the Fujifilm RAW file format is finally supported !

When the full version comes available I will definately get it !

    And be without Photoshop ?

The Gimp is not an alternative.

I'm going to upgrade to CS3 since it's the first Mac Intel native version.

I'd argue about the Gimp thing, but then again I'm a fanboy when it comes to the Gimp. Did I mention you can run Photoshop Plugins in Gimp?

And, you can use Photoshop in Linux... Not so sure of CS2, but I know for a fact 7.0 runs well with Crossover Office or Wine. Plus I keep hearing whispers of an impending Photoshop for Nix...

    Watch this space.

    I see it this way:

    1) You can pay for software
    2) You can illegally download or copy software
    3) You can download or copy OSS software as much as you like, change it should you feel the need to, add to it, shake it, break it, fix it (or download/ copy a newer version) etc.

    I'll take what's behind door no. 3.
