GTR's have been dyno'ing 480, and in some cases more, to the wheels. Putting them at about 550hp. And yeah, they probably did use a ringer for the Ring.

The Carrera GT did not "kick the GT-R's ass" since it set its lap time before the GT-R even existed.

So what if Nissan beat Porsche. Get over it.

Chassis engineers and test drivers are now the most knowledgable folks around for adjusting chassis/suspension/setup on a car.
Drivers have become just that and reliant on computer telemetry to get setups sorted by engineers trawling the captured data !
I'd put a chassis engineer with thousands of laps on the 'Ring ahead of most of the current nancy-boy F1 prima donnas

And if you wonder why a Radical or a Donkervoort has been faster than all the cars you listed, although they both have less horsepower, than you may start to realise that HP is not everything to make a car going fast.
well, those weight around a third of the GT-R

what I emant is that you can have fun and and involving drive even without braking the 8 minutes (or even 9...10..) barrier.

btw, did the Veyron seriously lapped?

which was my point. HP is not everything. (GTR faster than a Veyron...must be cheating...)

yeah, a lightweight car can be really fast despite having just a few HP and standard suspensions.

on a serious note, I have no clues on how the Veyron performs on a track, but I doubt it is very good.

I mean... how could a Nissan GT-r beat the Bugatti Veyron or even the Ferrari 430 scuderia, McLaren SLR, or Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

It makes me wonder how they did it since these cars have the advantage in raw power and usable by these cars because the Nurburgring is a High-speed track. It's not like Monaco...

So, give me an explanation on how they did it...
Both the Bug and the Macca are "soft" cars, and the lambo, if like old lambos is not very fond of the racetrack in any form. The f430 losing does mystify me a little bit, but the gtr is a damn fine car. What times does the Z06 do? 3 pages in less that a few hours, owo!

beside repeating the same things stated all over the interwebz and here too, that article contains some errors, for example, all the times are setted with a different point for start and stop, it also happens in some modern racing circuits (especially in motorcycle races IIRC), but I don't know why.

Exactly what I was thinking. Besides who really cares, real men drive rwd with no driver aids and a proper manual. Cars nowadays are way too soft, built to be idiot-proof.

The Nissan beat the Ferrari because it's a very hightech car. That overcame the straight line performance deficit.

    IIRC the Z06 did a 7'42.
