I usually scold people who say that things are "gay" due to the immense immaturity of the phrase but in the case of a VW… I will say you are correct.

I have to come back to this real quick. A friend's girlfriend has a Celica GT. It changes my perceptions somewhat as its actually not a bad car. She does have some mods to it, but it handles rather well, and even though 180hp, its pretty light so it gets the job done.

I always envisioned them as a compact ecobox disguised as a ricer, but ... well they are that, but they are a little sporty too.

I hate when people think that substantial amounts of power aren't enough...

And there's the problem of weight, which should put things into perspective.

neither the RSX nor the celica have enough power both are weaksauce. if you are looking for a fast car, stay away from both.

RSX is better looking, less girly, power is similar, shifter is probably better on the rsx.

i do know the RSX is a little difficult to work on due to a cramped engine compartment. i cant attest to the celica in that regard

A woman goes to the doctor to figure out why she is having breathing problems...The doctor tells her she is overweight. She says she wants a second opinion...the doctor says, "your ugly".

I was referring to that, his own first post.

Uhh yeah, because toyotas' are unreliable.

About power - my celica has
    130 hp (97 kW) @ 5400 rpm
    145 ft·lbf (196 Nm)@4400 rpm - and it weighs 1189KG fully wet + 120Kg driver in.

Which is 2,621 lbs, Including my 264 lbs weight.

Its not lightning, but it certianly kept me infront of a new toyota corolla sportivo from a red light drag.
More than enough for a first car.

GT or GTS? the GTS is the one carrying the 180hp.

GTS then I guess. I've only seen it and rode in it once. She had come into some money through inheretence and that's one of the things she got. I have a sneaking suspicion the guy only stays with her because she buys him lots of stuff. Too bad, she's a really sweet girl. Not my type, but she deserves better than that.

He's also ****ing my other roommate. I wonder if I should say something to her...

I saw a Celica today at the mall. Black with a big rear wing, and it had TRD stickers all over it.... lame. Needless to say the guy driving it looked like a d-bag and he may be overcompensating for small things that haunt him in his life. But that's just an assumption.

-> '06 RSX Type-S, hands down. Roomier, more fun to drive, awesome engine, awesome tranny and better visibility.

-> The '05 Celica GT-S isnt that bad either, but comparing these two even the Mechanical Sports Edition (thats the JDM name) or aka. TRD edition. The RSX has a more suttle and practical approach.

There are some that can get sideways far easier than some rear wheel drive cars.
