It's just a car, Kitdy, just a car. My favorite Canadian plate is the unique bear cutout of the NWT.

NY and California are both yellow on blue. The old yellow on black Cali plates used those colors for visibilty. I agree that simple is better, always liked European plates for that reason.

That was hysterical! Humourless Drift boy gave exactly the reaction one would expect, being too thick to know he was being punk'd. And yeah, the "obvious" tags may seem lame but believe it or not, people do ask what kind of cars our BMWs and Porsche 356 are. More often than not.

C'mon clutch, let's see your vanity tag.

Those are the California plates I am used to seeing. I just hate the font used and colour of "California."

Yeah... typeface choice just trying too hard, they started using that script in 1993. Coinciding with the success of Baywatch on TV?
Florida had it's own bad taste '80s design in pink and turquoise because of Miami Vice. Yech.

My bad, BTW. Yellow on blue replaced the classic yellow on black in 1970, the white background was adopted in 1982. I understand
that in a wave of nostalgia and popular demand, California black plates are available again, but flat and printed, not stamped.

    Here is my vanity plate.

Most people don't get it, as it follows the standard pattern.

I got a few from the Alfa guys that meet up at my university.

The REXVIAE plate is from an old Maserati Quattroporte.

My apologies, I never got around to posting the rest of the photos of the Italian car meet I shot last year.

But they do have a lot of personalized plates.

May or may not be a recurring theme, but a lot of the cars start off with HX, as with the 3rd and 4th shots.
