Have you seen the Porsche RS Spyder in the ALMS?
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

I know it has beaten the R10 in some races in America, but they somewhat refused to enter Le Mans.

I guess it's because they didn't stand a chance. And Le Mans is the race everyone knows about when it comes to endurance racing. And what everyone knows is that a diesel won at Le Mans. Therefore diesel is great.

I'm sorry if I'm exaggerating a bit, but I find the current diesel craze totally unfounded.

It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

The problem with the RS Spyder is that it is powered by a high revving V8 engine. The vibrations shake the car apart. That is why LMP cars usually have problems on longer races. This year there will be at least three RS Spyders entered for the race this year. Penske might also be interested in going.

Then I'm looking forward to the petrol onslaught.

I thought LMP1 cars mostly used much smaller engines that are usually turbo? I'd have thought that the 6ltr V12 would be too big.

IIRC it's up to 4 litre for turbo/supercharged engines and up to 6 litre forn normally aspirated engines.

I was trying to dig up some more information on the subject and discovered this isn't the first time one of Aston's engines has found its way into a Lola Coupe.

I sincerely hope the second effort will be more successful....

Well since the DBR1 and Aston's only win at Le Mans in '59 prototype Astons haven't been very successful...

The AMR1 had a ton of potential, but its life was cut short after just one season because of the Ford take-over.
