Yea, Fisker are doubly boned now that the Model S is out. Why buy a car from a company that is in all likelyhood not going to be around by the end of the year? Of course, if everyone who wants something like that did buy one then the company would be fine. Turns out building a niche car with unproven tech when you're a no-name company is hard.. who'da thunk it?!

    A small vacation indeed.

Took the Hyundai (needed the extra seats, having a two seater is turning out to be more annyoing than I thought...) racked up about 3000km in it.

Random automotive thoughts about the trip:

    • Lots of American cars, including ones not officially sold in Europe like the latest Dodge Durango
    • Must be the only (western) European country where petrol is actually cheaper than diesel
    • In the German part there's the most strict adhesion to speed limits I've ever seen, even to the point of actually braking (instead of just letting the car reduce the speed by lifting your foot off the throttle) if there's a speed limit change
    • Close-ration, short-geared gearboxes are annoying for long, high-speed motorway stints. The Hyundai is at least missing an extra gear
    • It's curious how, even almost 3 years after buying it, the little, simple Hyundai is still a masterstroke in many areas. It's not just as good as the European rivals, but it betters many of them in traditional European stranglehold like handling
    • 12 grand car means it squeaks and rattles. Also no leather steering wheel and gear knob or any other frills at all really...
    • Underpowered car is underpowered, but it's a joy to drive a car that poses a challenge. You are part of the action instead of being a mere passenger

    A Pegaso Z-102 inside a shop.

I wanted to go in and ask, unfortunately it was already closed.

If don't leave the office too late tomorrow maybe I'll pop over.

I saw a 72 Ford Mustang and a Beetle in the staff parking lot. I like it when I find unusual cars in a parking lot.

Boxter S as well as something else fairly special...but apparently not special enough for me to remember it.

A few weeks ago, I was downtown with some friends at the first Saturday Jays game. On the way back to Etobicoke, we played "spot the BMW." This is a particularilly fun game. On foot and on the streetcar, you see so many that they quickly become uncountable. You must say: BMW! every time you spot one. I urge everyone that lives in an urban centre to play this game. It was ridiculous how many we saw.
