S13 silvia....or the 180sx(which is about same as the silvia, cept smaller engine and few changes).
but thats if you really know how to drive a car....those can be dangerous on wet roads.
btw how much is that in USD?

You could look at an EB-ED or VN-VP for something that would be big and relatively fast. Economy might be a problem though and for something easier to drive around, you might look at like an old Corolla or something similar that would only have a 4cyl

    oh, and NO holdens.

thanks for the input so far guys.

maybe something that i could insure?

ive seen some old merc's and jags for 5 / 7 grand.. old classic sort of things.

why are they so cheap? are the running costs high?

$10K? You're a Subaru fan Whiteballz, so get yourself a mid 90s Liberty. Should be able to find a a second generation '95 Liberty GX AWD for about that. Go non modified and insurance shouldn't be too extreme. Or get a non-turbo Impreza from about 96-98.

ive spotted some older subaru wagons in my price range, but most have been modified..

i would rather stay away from those as owners usualy 20 somthing asswipes who think they know it all flog them senceless.

Well the car would be pretty safe at least. I wouldve thought the Liberty would be almost ignored and people wouldve jumped straight at the Impreza

If you want to buy a car in M'sia, an old second-hand Civic may cost you RM3,000 at least. (about 900 AUD) seriously! but i don't think you would wanna buy that, and i don't think the price will match in AUS.

They'd be more for the nostalgic fan, someone who finds pleasure in keeing an older car running. A first car you want something cheap to repair, economical and cheap to buy originally. Your pretty likely to crash it anyway so why crash a good car?

It'd be a good start, if you could find one for about $1-2K (hopefully with also 12 months rego) then you can save the rest for your next car.
