What's the difference between this and the QP?

It's smaller, lighter, more focused, tauter, more agressive.

    It's also cheaper.

Hm. Interesting. May end up paying off if it covers more customers than the QP alone does.

It will. As a result the QP has gone bigger and softer as well.

Oh, by the way, it's also the first Maserati with a diesel engine.

    I can't imagine a soft QP...

Well. It's a Chrysler with a downsized engine and an automatic.

It's the end of the world as we know it.

'Cept they're still Ferrari made/designed engines and the 8-speed auto from ZF, so not all doom/gloom. Also reports are in that it rides too harshly, so not too soft then.

The greatest irony is that because of rednecks (Dodge Challenger) this car has been designed with a manual gearbox in mind...

Europeans building automatics and Americans building manuals? The world is definitely upside down...

Remember that the US is the only place where you can get the last two versions of the M5 with a full manual 'box...

It's just expensive to run two trims of what is otherwise essentially the same car. It's risky to split it off, but I think it could pay off for them. The QP/Ghibli class is a small enough market that it may not end up putting an undue burden on them.

They are not in the same market.

    Think 7er (QP) v 5er (Ghibli).

The Ghibli is a Challenger too, isn't it? That means these are all very old E Classes...

That old E-class was sourced from the even older S-class. The origins of the S-class itself, of course, can be traced back to an oxcart.

    So this means.....what?
