    Porsche 906, World Record Monza, 1967

    Hello!

    I’d like to know something about the World Record of Porsche 906 in Monza 1967. (See photo.)
    Please help me to find any information about this car and its triumph in Monza 1967? What World Record was there in Monza 1967?

    Thank.

    PORSCHE 906 World Record at Monza 1967 year

    If this theme is still interesting, read it.

    ABOUT the PORSCHE 906E

    The PORSCHE 906E with long tail and short nose (a sort of hybrid of the racing cars), a 220 HP injection engine of 1991 cc, set 6 World Records in the FIA Category A, Group I, Class 7 (between 1551 and 2000 cc) on 29th October 1967 year on the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for:
    - 1000 km at an average speed of 226,252 km/h;
    - 1000 miles at an average speed of 225,633 km/h;
    - 2000 km at an average speed of 216,687 km/h;
    - 3 hours at an average speed of 226,687 km/h;
    - 6 hours at an average speed of 225,256 km/h;
    - 12 hours at an average speed of 214,564 km/h.

    Drivers were the Swiss racing drivers Jo Siffert, Dieter Spoerry, Rico Steinemann and Charles Voegele.
    Tires were Firestone. Main sponsor was BP.

    Unfortunately, I could not find a photo of the original car PORSCHE 906E World Record Monza 1967 year. If somebody has such a photo, please, post it (hi-res photo is better).

    Hi Aleksei,

    Sorry to having you let out in the cold after your first post. I have been checking the excellent work by Karl Ludvigsen on Porsche: "Excellence was expected". The record attempts by the 911R are duely reported, while no mention at all is made by the records for the 906. Charles Vogele is also only mentioned in the context of the 1967 ride with the 911 and no reference is made to the 906.

    Actually the 906E was recognisable from its slightly longer nose, and not with a longer tail as you describe, but there have been many variants of bodies for all sorts of Porsche types.

    The 906 has been recently added to the main page of UCP as you may have noticed. In case you have more info on the record car that would be very welcome.

    Hi, henk4!

    I have all the photos from this gallery. I can place them here. Is it necessary (may be in private message to you)? They are 44 in total, with resolution 574x376x24b.

    Hi Aleksei, thanks for the offer, no need to send these pics to me, but of course you can place (some of) them here, of course with properly crediting the source.
