Isn't that what the Lancia Stratos was designed for?
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

They were used in rallying by the time Group B began. Guy Fréquelin used to drive one, if I remember well. And yes, this is what Stratos was all about.

The Ferrari 308 was first homologated in Group 3 and 4 in the mid 70's and started being used by italian drivers in small Italian rallyes. The most famous operation involving it, was Ch.Pozzi's effort with Jean-Claude Andruet at the wheel in the late 70's tackling the European Rally Championship and some WRC rounds, with the best result a second overall in the 1981 Tour de Corse. The Quattrovalvole version was later homolgated in Group B, but was never as competitive as the Group 4 cars. As a curiosity Bjorn Waaldegard (the first ever World Rally Champion in 1979) drove one in the 1983 Rally Sanremo.

One of the cars (#31135)is owned by the Entremont brothers, it is still a regular entry in the Tour Auto, here is it in the Pyrenees in 2005..
