It comes pre-riced!
I'd say that most people buying TSXs aren't particularly looking for performance and that a Type-S is largely unnecessary. If Acura/Honda were however to make these cars more performance oriented - which probably isn't a wise mood as it doesn't fit their customer base - then RWD as well as a Type-S version would make sense.
If anyone had access to sales figures (I have looked before for sales figures and failed) for the Type-S TL and standard TL we could get a better idea how well the performance Acuras are doing. I have a feeling not that well.
Nobody looks for a TSX, they look at a group of cars. You could then say that no one looking for an A4 is looking for performance therefore an S4 is unnecessary. Some people would like a bit sharper handling, an bit edgier of an engine, but they're not racing it and aren't taking corners at 50mph, therefore bashing FWD is idiotic. It's perfectly fine for driving on the street, even for performance/fun driving on the street. You think the Cooper S gets bad sales cause its a performance FWD? No, people love the thing and even take it to AutoX events as far as I know.
But it is important to know what you are comparing. Because the M3 saloon, the RS4 saloon and an hypotetical fast Accord would be quite different cars.
Nothing, precisely that's why there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the Mini. However putting 350bhp through the front wheels is a bad idea, and that's why the S4 is four wheel drive and why I'm not sure a powerful Accord would be a good idea.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
