    Renault Alpine A211 1967-1968

Jean Rédélé and (especially) la Régie were becoming fed up with a handful of class wins. At the same time Amédée received authorisation from la Régie to create a 3 litre V8 by basically joning a pair of 1470cc four cylinder engines from Renault.

What they did then is fit one of those V8s into an A210 chasis, hence creating the A211, or a V8-engined A210, to fight for overall victories against the Ferraris, the Porsches and the Fords.

Unfortunately the car was too heavy and the engined underpowered (the announced 310bhp were in reality 280-290bhp at most) and as result it wasn't a contender for overall wins. Its best result was a third place overall in the 1968 1000km of Monza.

(I know the pic is rubbish, but otherwise the story of the Alpine sportscars wasn't complete)
