Neither... I find both pretty boring. I'll stick with Pink Floyd.

    Me too.

Trance is like 3 or 4 bars of all synth music dragged out for what seems hours. I've heard some good techno. Alan Parsons Project 'I Robot' is great.

    trance is waaay too repetitive...
i thought "Techno" is the type of music and trance, dance, house, etc are the different types of techno...

I'm pretty sure that Electronica is the general type of music, and trance, techno, house, drum n bass, jungle, edm and other tpyes like that are the subgenres. I dont know the difference between the two though.

I personally love the lyrics in trance

this might be handy to stop confusing everything.

    The electronic music:

    Electronica
    l
Detroit and UK garage (techno evolved from it)
    l
House music (dance emerged from the softer versions of house)
    l
Gabber (much faster and harder version of house. in what we dutch know as gabber, ther usually are some funny lirics.)
    l
Happy hardcore (Combination of gabber and house. hard bass-line with high tones in it.)
    l
Trance (at first it quite resembled house. This later evolved into a entirely new style. (very) high tones, soft bassline.)

    Techno:
many (deep) bass-lines, and some higher tunes. (rarely has lyrics.)
Example: any song by Carl Cox

    Dance:
many different instruments mixed together, for example, guitar, piano and more. Usually has a deep pumping bassline.
example: deep dish- flashdance, Akcent- kylie

    Trance:
soft bassline/beat. High tunes mixed into a nice sounding thingy. repetiveness depends on which style of trance you listen.(vocal, progressive, goa, psy, party, euro and many more).
Usually there is not much the same.If you find it repetive you should listen better to it, or purchase a proper stereo.
    Example:
    coca&vila- la noche
    p.o.s. - gravity
    progression- sands of time

    House:
older version of trance.trance evolved from it.
????? - sanctuary (sorry dont know the artist by heart)

in a non-mainstream song (they are all crap) , there can certainly be more as one or two words !!! it can have beutiful lyrics. Download Tiesto- UR to give a bit more mainstream example. The singing is usually much nicer, without 'edited' voices as in many pop-music.

That is only a small number compared to my collection.Atr the moment i have 210 cd's
    About 30 are techno
    20 are dance
    1 is rock music
8 are electronice (j.m.Jarre, m.oldfield and isao tomita)
    the rest is trance
    my trance cd's :
10 are goa trance (only recently i found out tis style existed, only a few thousand people listen to it)
    30 are progressive trance
    40 are vocal trance
    20 are psy trance
10 are just mix-cd's with various styles and kind of songs
    about 50 are concert-recordings

i suggest anyone that does not know much about any of these styles, gets on my msn,so that i can let you hear some examples

I think SlamFM plays some good combo of techno and trance... plus some of the best dj's in the world are Dutch... Armin van buuren, Ferry corsten, johan gielen, tiesto... not to mention paul van dyk who's german... pete tong who's british... but i think if u like one u'll like the other...
