Yes, because cross discipline result based stats done by some statstician can indeed tell us who is the best....

Because there are lies, damn lies... and statistics.

If the first analysis awards Button #1, it's already proven faulty.

    It is flawed!

If Button is in the top ten it's severely flawed.

    success rate:
Button 6 wins out of 17 races (95 points out of a 170 maximum)
Vettel 4 wins (84 points out of a maximum 170)
Loeb 7 wins out of 12 rallyes. (93 points out of a 120 maximum).

So what is the value of the co-efficient that recalculates the results to make F1 wins more important?

How can the Le Mans winner and ALMS champion be ranked 44th? Behind the likes of Timo Glock and Marco Andretti, who won absolutely nothing.

Yeah I am sure they have heard of a race called the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It is held in France, so it probably doesn't count.

The British co-efficient. At least so long as a Brit wins the championship.

Over the years as F1 regs changed for both technology and financial demands, in the past the
hand-wringing was always over the greatest F1 driver, ever. And the calculus for THOSE arguments was even shakier.

I remember in the '90s reading a comparo of Clark & Mansell. Absurd.
Just like the tables this Castrol Ranking system provides.

So I would say: Where are Jean Alesi and Olivier Panis ????

I guess this includes only drivers in activity?

Hey this just can't be serious, Kristensen behind people like Vitaly Petrov, he should be ranked better than Sordo...

Yep, fundamentally flawed as it is comparing competitive racers then it is seriously slewed by the quality of the competition ( car and driver ) faced by the driver.

My betting is Autocar carries lots of Red Bull advertising and wants to protect it's revenue stream

So only covers TWELVE months so kinda snookers those who win in one off races like Le Mans and as suspected can't bring in the value of the competition into the equation.
