The F-14 is an awesome aircraft. Love watching videos of these things. Makes our cars look like lawn mowers.

    Why the superhornets comment?

    Miss it? Why?
It was heavier, less manouverable, less tactile than the F18. F18 is amazing, that's why the navy needs it.

cuz it looks nicer (except the bottom), looks cooler, faster, could carry more things, more sophisticated, has a huge radar, way longer range, more original and unique

as for being less tactile, it was made before the f-18 so what the **** did you expect einstein?

    nice try capt. obvious

Yeah, the F-14 was great. It had these long range stand off missles that engaged targets from almost 80 miles away. I forgot the name of it. The F-18 Superhornet isn't as advanced as it is (radar) but I guess it was used because the Navy wants to cut costs.

Awesome vid d-quik. I miss the Tomcat very much, they used to fly at the Abbotsford Airshow, but in recent years they have not shown up. It's sad that they are being retired but as always happens in the realm of Milltary Equipment, out with the old, and in with the new! Even if the new is not nearly as sexy and wicked.

    Here's a treat:

It is sad to see it go, but what I'm really gonna miss is the F-16. Those things are really nimble and light and my dad used to work on them. Though the FA-22 is a really cool looking replacement.

The navy isn't Ford or GM to cut costs; as for the F14, the pilots didn't seemed to like it very much. I have several friends in the air force, They claim that F16s are much better.
