I actually saw one yesterday in a dealer. Looked like a small, not ugly Q7.

Funny you should mention, as this ad originally included a segment showing the driver. Fortunately this bit has now been deleted because VE Man resembled what your nightmares might imagine was the result of a bitzer-cross mating session between a Cro-Magnon humanoid and Mr Bean

    Hardly an aspirational look

Anyone seen the new Fairmont Ghia ad? It's bloody good IMO.

And what happened to Holden's claim of the biggest marketing spend? I saw more Camry ads than VE ads. The blimp is cool though...

Toyota has a endless amount of money even if they hardly make a cent here
I seen the new ghia ad, I thought people hated the euro way the VE went but now they love it

Ford is apparently going to be using Euro in their marketing fairly heavily, as Holden is getting the Korean image, Ford wants to develop a Euro one.

But that can only go so far unless it's more known half the public will never see the Korean connection with the cars, Especially the Commodore when it looks very euro.

Yeah, but then you'll have a bunch of Falcon twats going aroung prattling on about how their Ghia is somehow European, despite being from just outside Melbourne

I dont think it would take much for someone to recognise the Barina and Viva for their alter egos. The Captiva naturally would be harder, but theres been the odd person also saying the Statesman looks Korean, now that Holden have started building them for export markets.

The ad says something like a European soul, but built in Australia.

    EDIT:

"European spirit, precision and safety are all available in an Australian built car. New Fairmont Ghia, a very European drive"

I just checked out Ford's website, and the ad is on there (aswell as a revamped BFII minisite)

    http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Conte...1024&c=DFYPage

Check out the ad. (You will have to navigate to the multimedia section) It's better than the VE Commodore one...

So Falcons have a European soul now eh? Aussie souls must out of favour ..

I guess the cultural cringe factor finally has won out

Jeez some these advertising spin doctors really get up my nose - even if what they serve up is just 'pap for plebs'

Korean Daiwoos with (fully imported) Holden 'DNA' ?? And now each new Falcon taxi has a fully imported EU soul, god help us, to match its fully imported driver no doubt

It's an effective ad - using pictorial references such as flags - but the Aussie buyer wants an aussie car, and the European buyer is more likely to spend more and buy an Audi or VW, frankly.

    Might be bad positioning IMHO.

Still, $46,990 for a Fairmont Ghia? Why not!
