I like estates too. But then again I'm actually from 1928.

And the A5 Sportback would make a perfect Saab. Minus the stupid, snob, overestimated image that is.

I guess you can call me an old man too, then! I have always thought it'd be cool to have a Volvo V40 R or an Audi RS4 Avant or an E-55 AMG wagon! Practicality and muscle all in one package?! Win-win in my book!!

I actually don't care about the practicality. My like of estates comes from three sources:

    - I like the style
    - I like the image they give
    - And most of all I like destroying idiots in Boxsters in what basically is a family car.

yes, because these hot rod estates may have the space, but may not be able to fill it, as they will be over maximum weight allowed........

so you would like to move additional weight around just for image purposes?

If cars these days weight a million tons already do 30-40kg make a difference really?

On the other hand, it's not like we are speking about superlightweight sportscars, so weight is less of an issue when choosing between a saloon or an estate.

A potent station wagon will be required to outrun a Boxster S on a twisty road.

    It is so satisfying though.

Destroying a snob in his shiny new sportscar in a understated, practical family car. Bonus points if the car looks really like a Playschool Dad's Special.

actually I know the feeling, the regular TDI driver can be sometimes very surprised when I unleash more horses than he would ever thought to be in my car, especially when they think they can push me aside in the left lane.

Who doesn't love having a sleeper for a daily driver? Especially one where the kids can sit facing out the back and wave at the Porsche driver you just dusted off!
