Certainly, Porsche seems to have gone overbore wit badges lately...

    Whatever.

The simple fact of the matter is that there are far too many letters in the back of this car.

Porsche would probably debadge that for you if you so choose.

I'm okay with the 911. I was expecting a mess, but as long as they still produce the myriad of 911s, I don't care if there are Cayennes and Panameras.

Instead of criticising the new 911 for stupid thing like how many letters are one the back of the car and things like that, it’s stupid. I like to look on the positive side, I was expecting the new 911 to look horrible, it doesn’t, ok it looks similar the old 911 but Porsche could have spoiled the looks and they haven’t. It’s a clever car, I think it could be a lot worth and I’m grateful it isn’t.

Nah...911s will never look "horrible"(if you are into their look that is), Porsche is too conservative with the car to really be pushing boundaries with the styling. With something like a Cayanne or Panamera, they have no idea how it "should" look so its always tricky to make a Porsche out of the weird shape. With 911 its clearly defined that they are always bound to look like a 911...

Seems to be the most logical and natural way to add a 7th.

In that case neutral should still be between 3rd and 4th gear.

Will there be a collar or similar to prevent engaging reverse or seventh when going for first or fifth?

i'm not sure if porsche designers have the easiest or hardest job with the 911.
on the one hand, cut and paste 90% of it, not starting from scratch.
on the other "make it look fresh and new! but also make it look like the previous ones!" has got to be a bitch of a job

I agree that it's a bit 'wordy' on the back, but I'm actually starting to like this car.

"The Porsche 911 is dead, long live the Porsche 911. The German automaker's latest and greatest has taken to the Nürburgring where old marks have fallen hard. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S was sent through the Green Hell, where it promptly beat the time achieved by the prior 997 version by a whopping 13 seconds.

With a time of 7:40, the 2012 911 matches the mark set by the previous 911 GT3. If you happen to own a previous generation 911 GT3, we'll pause here for a moment while you go out to smash something with a hammer.

Back? Great. You shouldn't fret too much, because this just means the next-generation GT3 should be a land rocket capable of blistering the surface of the 'Ring. GT2 guys, your numbers are still safe... for now. "
